Pet Insurance it’s one of those things that you think should I take it out or not?, will I really need it? Or I’ll do it tomorrow but money is tight and tomorrow never arrives.
I will admit I never had Pet Insurance with my first dog, she was a beautiful black Labrador called Indie, we had her from 8 weeks and apart from a small lump that was removed we never needed it, until one day when she became ill and started filling up with fluid, after many tests and X rays and even a blood transfusion (insert link) it was a shock to find she had chronic liver failure, she had shown no symptoms for 2 years and was always the happiest little lab you could wish for, unfortunately she passed away aged only 2 and half and while I would have paid anything it took to make her better it wasn’t to be and as well as losing our best friend we also had a bill for over £1500.
Had she been insured this would have been taken care off by our Pet Insurance policy.
We now have two beautiful labs and both are insured, which is just as well as we found our 12 month old labrador has arthritis, the policy we have covers all aspects of this condition now for the rest of his life, this includes monthly cartrofen jabs which are amazing and make a great difference and it even covers complimentary therapy including hydrotherapy, and with him being a water lover he loves this.
I can’t stress enough the importance of insurance, you never know what is around the corner, Around one in three dogs and cats are either injured or ill each year it’s never been easier or cheaper to insure you pet and protect yourself against high veterinary costs, for as little as 20p-60p per day it can make a huge difference to your dogs health and your pocket.
